Epiphany II
Now I'm back to finding myself, back to what I was - carefree, confident, crazy, fun, impulsive, proud, whatever I was. Life seemed much easier then. I miss what I was. Its funny how relationships changed me into a cynical, angry, confused and doubtful person. Its like I walked down the wrong path of a fork, now I have to find my way back to the path I should've stayed with.
Then again as you move along, life gets complicated and we can only hope to scramble out of the mess unharmed, but battle scars always stay, be it battles with ourselves or others. I remember when I wouldn't fight myself, I did what made me happy and I couldn't have given a rat's ass about what people thought. Does being in a relationship re-justify all that? Do we have to give up the things we want for ourselves to make your loved ones happy, and along the way, lose ourselves and who we are? Its happening everywhere, in every relationship, no matter how strong it is. Now dear reader, my friend, my pet or just about anyone who you may be, if you have the cheek to deny it, I suggest you take a look at every aspect of your own relationships before saying that I'm an idiot and I talk shit. Then again those of you who know that it is true would probably deny it to save yourself the hurt, knowing that deep inside you're probably already hurt anyway.
From what I've observed, I've seen so many people lose their individualities and personalities because of young love, and right now I see that as most pitiful, as 17 is the age where you start to figure out who you really are and develop that version of yourself into what is possibly the best you can be. And I won't let anything take that away from me. I believe we can all be happy and we can give for love, at the same time retaining that bit of rightful selfishness to keep ourselves happy. What is the point, when you lose your happiness trying to keep another person happy, and probably failing to at that point, because you can never make another person happy if you are unhappy. We can make this work. We will love with all our hearts, love ourselves and each other and revert back to how joyful and appreciative we were, we would be happy again.
I am not saying that one shouldn't consider the opinions or his or her loved ones or make sacrifices for the one he or she loves, as sacrifice is the ultimate act of love. But to sacrifice who you are.. that is something you should keep for yourself at all times and never let go. Then again, your lover fell in love with you for who you are, and you should never change that.
