So Have You Gotten Your Yearbooks?
Aren't you dissapointed?
Because I am. We all hoped for a change this year, a good change, that is, and being part of the editorial board I regret to say that the yearbook is a pretty much a failure, besides the class photos section, which were sharp and neat and professionally done by Mdm Zubaidah. Unlike the rest of the book which only had pictures put together and titled using MICROSOFT WORD ART. No neat borders, no captions, no proper colour co-odination, no proper layout and arrangements. Instead, the images turned out distorted from over stretching or compressing from ... trying to fit all the pictures in one page. Imagine the shock I got (I didn't get to see the mock-up)
I even got chided for suggesting the use of Photoshop for the layouts and images and captions, yada yada. Look what she ended up using for the pictures. Microsoft Word.
I regert to say that I lacked participation in this project by not turning up for some of the meetings and all I managed to do was a few designs of a front cover and let the rest of the board take their pick. Which turned out about 7 shades darker on the printing than the original design AND it was stretched so the pixels of the supposedly fine, sharp lines were visible. Sigh. In trying to make this yearbook the most creative and the most interesting, we succeeded in making it the tackiest and most unprofessional. Notice I said 'we' because if I did otherwise or skated a name, heaven knows the unjust consequences that might befall me like others before. Sensitive, sensitive school authorities.
Old School yearbook trumps 2007 crap of a schoolbook.
We were supposed to create something new without entirely deviating from the theme that a schoolbook is supposed to carry. Look what happened instead. Matthews probably had a sophisticated yet colourful yearbook with more photos and less words in mind, not a mediocre yearbook with stretched out distorted pictures and barely readable Microsoft Word printings.
Too late for us to rectify our mistake of not taking things into our own hands and properly discussing the plans and designs now. New editorial board please keep this in mind, don't leave the ideas and the designing up to Marshall. If you are good with what you do, then do it yourself.
UPDATE: Matthews is apparently quite happy with it. Wth. The rest of the school aren't. Neither are the ex-Form 5s. Reyhan is going around taking petition signatures for a post-mortem meeting which I think is a waste of time anyway since a thousand copies have already been printed and everybody's money down the drain. Including the memories of the ex Form 5s. Sorry guys.
Thank god I didn't make it for the editorial board photograph shoot.

What lit up my day:
Look what came in the mail today!
The floral beaded dress I bought online.
I love shopping online. But that also means that I have no lost my only means of exercise, walking for hours in malls. Now I just sit in the comfort of my chair and... shop.

Gymrama:
One of our kids came down with appendicitis, so one of us (Bec, Grace, Trisha, Me) had to take her spot.
That one of us was ME.
I swore never to do gymrama ever again after F2.

Self- Mutilation:
I have decided on getting my buddhist mantra tattoo, either behind my ear or down my spine. Haven't decided between those two yet but I'm definitely gonna get it done. And maybe get another one after. Can't do it now because if I do that means I only have a choice of getting it on my back, having it behind my ear would render it visible to wms authorities and we don't want that now do we. Going to pierce my nose too, either during the holidays or again, after Form 5. I could wear a clear stick but I don't want wms to be yanking that out either. After I get those I'm getting a medusa. Yay can't wait.

Be careful how you touch her for she'll awaken
And sleep's the only freedom that she knows
And when you look into her eyes you won't believe
For the way she's always paying for a debt she never owed
And a silent wind still blows that she can only hear
